Xiaomei He, PhD. (Principal Investigator)

I obtained my B.S. degree in Chemistry from Xiamen University, and PhD. Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Wuhan University. In my graduate study, I mainly focused on developing adsorbent materials and enrichment methods for the identification of low-abundance protein modifications, including protein phosphorylation and glycosylation. After PhD graduation, I realized the importance of expanding my knowledge in biology to enhance my skill set further. Therefore, I joined Dr. Wang’s lab as a postdoc in the University of California Riverside. In Wang lab, I have gained a lot of experience in molecular and cell biology, and multi-omics approaches, including proteomics, bioinformatics and genomics.

Since 2024, I started my own research lab in ECU. My research interests involve in developing LC-MS/MS-based quantitative proteomics methods and bioinformatic prediction methods to identify novel protein-nucleic acid interactions and protein-protein interactions, as well as exploring the biological functions of these interactions in human cells. My work also entails employing an interdisciplinary approach, encompassing molecular and cell biology, next generation sequencing, quantitative proteomics, and bioinformatics to investigate novel crosstalks between RNA modifications and histone post-translational modifications.
